Computers are so mysterious sometimes. Ever since I got my laptop it would never go into standby mode, always saying that the keyboard was preventing it. Last month though, it seemed to suddenly resolve it's differences and now will happily drop into standby if left idle for half an hour or so. The thing is, I didn't change anything!

In other news, the temperature has finally dropped :) I may well be able to think unimpeded this morning.

What gets me is Windows XP going into hibernation mode when the battery is low...

1) Turns off the keyboard
2) Turns off the mouse
3) Informs applications that it is shutting down
3a) Windows Media Player warns you that shutting down now may mean the current tune/video may not restart from the same place on resuming and asks you to confirm the hibernation request.
4) Sits there waiting for you to impossibly respond until the battery goes completely flat or you flick the switch.
