Strange how these voices can become such a part of one's life. Before his illness was announced last year I'd spent deacdes listening to him, and still think of the voice rather than visualising the face.

And he always sounded essentially rather on the young side for someone with such gravitas and humour: an unusually wise 36-year-old, not someone 22 years older. How dreadful for his kids and his current and his former wife, too.
